Women’s Ayahuasca Retreats
A Safe Space for Healing
While we celebrate all people looking for connection, guidance, and healing with ayahuasca, we also understand the sensitivity when uncovering pain, fear, shame, judgement, and complex traumas for women- particularly sexual trauma, infertility issues, pregnancy or miscarriage trauma, abortion trauma, and more.
Intertwining Medicines offers women-only retreats which are held by female facilitators and a female Shipiba healer. We recognize and honor the great need for safety and stability for women who do not feel entirely comfortable to participate in mixed gendered groups. These retreats are held a very small and intimate container of 5-10 women per retreat.
Our next women’s retreat is August 24-31, 2025 in our primary location of Sacred Valley, Peru.
About This Retreat
Our 7 night/8 day women’s ayahuasca retreat is an opportunity for a small group of women to gather in the company and safety of other women. There has always been a great need for women-only spaces in medicine work.
Held by a highly experienced and professional team of trauma-informed female facilitators and an indigenous master curandera, together we co-create a loving, heart centered container where compassion and sensitivity set the stage for our ceremonies. This beautiful opportunity to connect with ancient medicine on the ancestral lands of Sacred Valley while also connecting with other women opens us to higher vision, lifelong friendship, and unparalled support on the journey.

Hands-on Healing
Our curandera (healer) will occasionally offer hands-on healing during the ceremonies such as abdominal massages. This powerful technique helps to clear stuck energies in the body.
Feminine Floral Baths
While the Shipibo tradition notes feminine and masculine qualities for all plants, some plants are known to support women’s bodies more than others. Our healer creates a slightly different recipe for our medicinal plant and flower baths during our women’s retreats.
Menstruation and Ayahuasca
There are many ayahuasca retreat centers that do not allow women to participate in ceremonies during menstruation. It is true that the energy of menstruation is strong, but exclusion does not benefit the healing process for a woman. Female healers are skilled in working with this energy, and a woman can still safely drink ayahuasca during her menses and have a profound experience. All women during our retreats can fully participate in every ceremony regardless of where they are in their cycles.
