Traveling to Peru

Tips for Entry and Arriving to Cusco

Requirements for entry include a valid passport with at least six months before expiration. Tourist visas are given at border control, and they range between 30-90 days. Your immigration officer will ask you to present your return flight home for verification.

When traveling to South America, plan for possible delays not only with international flights, but especially with your connecting flight from Lima to Cusco airport. There are two airlines with daily flights to Cusco: Latam Air and Sky Air (a budget airline). Latam Peru generally has cheaper flights than booking with Latam USA. Both Sky and Latam tend to be reliable for domestic travel, however delayed flights can happen. Purchasing travel insurance is always recommended.

Border control in Lima airport usually isn’t a quick process. We suggest giving ample time for same day travel between your international arrival and your domestic flight. For connecting flights, please give yourself two hours for check in. For international returns, arrive to Lima airport three hours before your departure.

We suggest to all of our guests to arrive in Cusco at least one day early before your retreat starts. This gives you a chance to rest and climatize to the high altitude. Intertwining Medicines is partnered with a gorgeous, eco conscious colonial hotel located in the historic district of San Blas to which our guests can receive a discount on room rates.
